Privacy Policy

Closr is a digital wardrobe and context-aware outfit planner for iPhone, with AI-powered image generation. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why we collect it, and the control you have over it — with particular care for the photos you upload of your clothes and yourself.

Last updated: 29 July 2026. This applies to the Closr iOS app and to this website (closr.knmlabs.org).

1. What we collect

We try to collect the minimum needed to run your wardrobe:

  • Account information — the name and email Apple shares when you create an account, plus the Apple account identifier used to keep you signed in. Apple may provide a private relay email if you choose Hide My Email.
  • The photos and wardrobe data you upload — garment photos, full-fit photos, an optional person-reference photo for virtual try-on, item details, outfits, planner entries, and wear history.
  • Purchase and service records — StoreKit product, transaction, subscription, credit-ledger, storage-usage, and generation-job records needed to provide paid features and prevent duplicate fulfilment.
  • Diagnostics you choose to share — the app can prepare a support summary containing app, operating-system, backend, and recent sign-in status. It excludes your Apple token, nonce, email, name, and Closr account identifier.

2. How we use it

We use your information to provide the service you asked for and to keep it working:

  • Build your wardrobe. Your uploaded garment photos are processed to catalog items so you can search, sort, and browse the clothes you own.
  • Generate garment and try-on images. We process garment photos to isolate the product and, when you request it, combine selected garments with your optional person-reference photo to produce a photographic virtual try-on.
  • Operate and secure your account. Account information is used to sign you in, sync your wardrobe across your devices, respond to support requests, and protect against abuse.
  • Improve reliability. Operational diagnostics help us find and fix service failures.

We do not use your wardrobe photos or selfies to target advertising to you.

3. Photos & your content

The photos you add are the heart of Closr, so we treat them with care:

  • Your wardrobe is private to your account. Garment photos, fit pics, and person-reference photos you upload are visible to you and are not made public or shared with other users by default.
  • Used only to provide the service. We process your images to catalog garments, extract a full fit, and — when you request it — generate a photographic virtual try-on. We do not repurpose them for unrelated goals.
  • Not sold. We do not sell your photos or personal information, and we do not license your images to third parties for their own marketing or product development.
  • Item limits. To keep the experience fast and to bound the cost of AI processing, wardrobes may be capped at a set number of items per account.

4. Third parties

Running Closr means relying on a small number of trusted service providers. They act as data processors on our behalf — they handle data only to perform the specific function we hired them for, under contract, and not for their own purposes:

  • Google Gemini. Relevant garment and person-reference photos are sent to Google's Gemini image service only when needed for garment cleanup, full-fit extraction, or a virtual try-on request.
  • Apple. Apple provides Sign in with Apple and processes App Store purchases, subscriptions, and transaction status.
  • Hosting & monitoring. Infrastructure providers store account data and images and may process limited operational error information so the service can sync, load, and recover reliably.

If a material provider or use changes, we will update this page before relying on it for that purpose.

5. Data retention & deletion

You stay in control of your content:

  • Delete individual content. You can remove garments, outfits, and plans inside the app.
  • Delete your account. You can delete your account in the app, which removes your wardrobe content, person-reference photo, generated images, and associated personal data from active systems.
  • How long we keep things. We retain your account and content while your account is active. After deletion, data is removed from live systems promptly, though residual copies may persist briefly in secure backups before they age out, and we may retain limited records where required for legal, security, or accounting reasons.

To delete your account or ask a question about your data, contact us using the details below.

6. Children

Closr is not directed to young children and is intended for users who meet the minimum age required in their region — generally 13 and older, or 16 and older where local law (such as in parts of the EU/EEA) sets a higher threshold for processing personal data. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below the applicable minimum age. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise the core of these rights directly in the app — by editing your wardrobe or deleting your account — or by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

8. Changes to this policy

As Closr grows, we may update this policy. When we make material changes, we will revise the "Last updated" note above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Closr after an update means you accept the revised policy.
